Vision for the Game: Spotlight on Honorees
On Saturday, May 14th, MindsEye supporters gathered at the Infield II of Busch Stadium at Ballpark Village for the second annual Vision for the Game. The day featured a ceremony to honor individuals who have supported blind athletics and the game of beepball and a live beepball demonstration.
Jack Lenk is one of the original beepball supporters in our area, and he still plays today with the St. Louis beepball pick-up group the Beep Birds. He was on the original Beepball Committee which began the MindsEye’s Tournament, and he was instrumental in guiding MindsEye through the rules of beepball.
D’Marco Farr is the host of 101ESPN’s “The Fast Lane” where he delivers sports commentary and play-by-play. D’Marco is also a beepball supporter having been introduced to the game first hand when he joined the 101ESPN beepball team in 2013. The picture shows him with 2015 honoree A.J. Ashby and A.J.'s mother Rachel Briner.
Assumption Parish is a Catholic church located in South St. Louis County. They have been a gracious host to the Ultimate Beepball Tournament for eight years. Assumption has offered not only their ball fields, but also volunteer help to make the day go smoothly. Dwayne, a volunteer from Assumption, has set-up fields, helped distribute water, and more – all while welcoming participants and spectators. The picture shows Dwayne accepting the award on behalf of Assumption Parish.
Allsup, Inc helps people apply for Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) benefits and is MindsEye’s neighbor. Allsup has been the leading sponsor of the Ultimate Beepball Tournament for almost a decade. The Allsup Sonar Swingers beepball team have two championship trophies and have made it to the final round of the Tournament almost every year since its inception.
