Start off the new year with a bang!  Join our audio description team!

Have you ever wondered how individuals who are blind or partially sighted get a complete experience at live theater, museums, or sporting events? Would you like to help make those places more accessible, more fulfilling, and more fun? Join our volunteer audio description team and YOU can help us translate VISION into AUDIO.

Tuesday, Wednesday, AND Thursday
January 11-13, 6:00-8:00 PM
Training is ALL THREE days.

Open to new volunteers and current MindsEye volunteers from other programs. Learn who utilizes audio description and why. This is a basic, beginner’s course, no experience required.

We’ll talk about describing live theater and dance, museums and galleries, opera, sporting events, and more. We’ll also touch on describing recorded programming, and how to provide description for meetings, webinars, and more!

This training is specifically intended for describers in the St. Louis Metro East who will go on to volunteer at live events for MindsEye across the St. Louis area.

We are looking for ALL types of people. We are particularly hoping to diversify our AD team to represent more cultural and ideological backgrounds including but not limited to these groups:

Black, Hispanic and/or Latinx, Native American, Asian American, Jewish, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and more! We are also seeking fluent speakers of Spanish and Bosnian.

Participants will be invoiced $200 payable on April 1, 2022. For each audio description volunteer assignment taken before that time, $50 will be deducted from the invoice up to and equally the entire $200.

Register soon. Space is limited.
