MindsEye is looking forward to its next big event, the Mascoutah Invitational BeepBall Tournament Presented by Mascoutah Eye Care, on September 18th! The event raises awareness and funds for MindsEye’s BeepBall program, including educational demonstrations and MindsEye’s own nationally competitive BeepBall team, the Gateway Archers.

Described by athletes with a visual disability as “a dream come true,” BeepBall is an adaptive form of baseball that allows athletes of all visual abilities to play together.  All BeepBall players are blindfolded, except for the sighted pitcher and outfield spotters. They are guided by sound– the beeping ball, buzzing bases, and cues from the pitcher.

MindsEye hosts two recreational BeepBall tournaments each year, the Ultimate Tournament in the summer and the Mascoutah Invitational in the fall. MindsEye President and CEO Jason Frazier is a proud Mascoutah resident. Each recreational team is composed of 8 or more players and will play 2-3 games. Some teams are sponsored by individuals and some by local businesses and organizations.

MindsEye is extremely grateful to this year’s sponsors, which include Mascoutah Eye Care, the Mascoutah Noon and Evening Lions, Ameren Illinois, Lighthouse for the Blind – St. Louis, Emerson, Lux Life Real Estate, Hannigan Team Realty, Lizzie Bob’s Sweets from Scratch, Misfitz, and the individual team sponsors!
