On Saturday, November 12, 2022, MindsEye Adaptive Athletics successfully hosted its first event for their new programs of GoalBall and Blind Soccer at Missouri School for the Blind. In typical, unpredictable St. Louis weather, it saw the city’s first snowfall of the season which inhibited some travel, but still with a great turnout. With ten blind or low vision athletes ranging in ages from elementary age to adults, everyone got to learn about these new sports opportunities in the St. Louis Area.

Most athletes were familiar with GoalBall, so they participated in mock games with people rotating around with instructions given when necessary.

Blind Soccer was new to most, so it was heavily drill based. Starting off with basic dribbling techniques, passing to a teammate, two-on-one drills, free kicks, and then three-on-zero runs at the goalie net.

MindsEye looks to hold more events like these in the future, with the possibility of each sport having its own events! Stay tuned to MindsEye social media and website for those announcements!
